What You Need to Start Playing
We Were Here Tomorrow is a paid, two-player online co-op game available on Windows through Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with crossplay between them. For the Steam PC version, both players need an internet connection and a working PC-compatible microphone.
Playing With a Partner
- How many players can play together?
- Two players play together online, and the game is co-op only. Each Explorer has a distinct role and equipment, while asymmetrical puzzles give you different perspectives. Describe what you see and compare discoveries with your partner so you can work out the solution together.
- Which platforms can play together through crossplay?
- Crossplay connects the Windows version on Steam, the PS5 version on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Series X|S version on the Xbox Store. You can choose from those versions when arranging a session with your partner. Agree on your preferred platforms before buying.
- How does local split-screen work?
- The advertised mode is online co-op, with no local split-screen mode advertised. Plan your session around playing together online.
- Do I need to play the earlier games first?
- No. The games in the We Were Here series are standalone online co-op adventures. Their stories connect, but you do not need to play them in order, so you can start with Tomorrow.
Check Your Controls and Walkie-Talkie
- Where can I check or change the controls?
- Open the game's Controls or Settings interface to see the bindings and remapping options for your platform. Movement and interaction use keyboard, mouse or controller inputs, with additional controls for the walkie-talkie, Hook Gun and Goop Gun. Use the displayed bindings for the device you are playing with.
- Can I use a controller on the Steam version?
- Yes. Steam lists partial controller support, including DualShock and DualSense controller support. Check the game's displayed controls for your chosen device before starting your session.
- Open Controls or Settings and review the movement, interaction, radio and tool bindings for your platform.
- Use the remapping options offered there to adjust the available bindings, then review them before continuing.
- Take turns transmitting on the walkie-talkie. You cannot receive your partner's radio transmission while you are transmitting, so leave space for their reply.
Demo Availability and Full-Game Downloads
- How can I get the demo or full game?
- The free Steam demo was a limited preview, and its active store download was unavailable on October 22, 2026. The released full game has a separate Steam product page. Use that page to get the Windows release rather than following an old demo promotion.
- What did the demo include?
- The demo covered the opening area of the Norček facility and its initial assignments, with asymmetrical puzzles built around communication, observation and teamwork. It offered an opening slice of the adventure rather than the complete campaign. Choose the full game when you want the complete release.
Price and Free Versions
- Is the complete game free?
- No. The full release is paid and is not advertised as free-to-play. The historical free Steam demo was a limited preview, so an old free-demo announcement does not mean the complete game is free.
Release Date and Updates
- Has We Were Here Tomorrow been released?
- Yes. We Were Here Tomorrow fully released on October 20, 2026. You can start the released adventure with your co-op partner; it is no longer awaiting its initial launch.
